02.    BRENU

Brenu is a young hip-hop artist from my hometown Recife, whom I met online in mid-2023 with his song “Tempestade,” which was a hit in the local trap scene in Recife. We started working together to creatively direct his new upcoming album “Escama Trap.”

The artist was gaining attention by mixing new waves from Trap with older cultural movements from our state, Pernambuco.

"Escama Trap" has a mix of Detroit, Jersey Club, Brega Funk, and Brega in a very fresh way.

My role was to develop and help him translate this new aesthetic into visuals, music videos, and visualizers.

THE LAUNCH

In his first single, named after the album, "Escama Trap," we chose a very impactful way to launch it.

Recife is a city well known for its beautiful beaches but that are also full of sharks. With signs everywhere advising you not to enter the waters.

So, what did we do? We used Brenu and Mago de Tarso's following fanbase to make them believe Brenu was going to swim at Boa Viagem beach to celebrate the release of "Escama Trap" and then staged a fake shark attack.

TikTok and Instagram went crazy with more than 400K views and 30K interactions.
